Work Group on Qualitative Research


The KU Work Group on Qualitative Research is an interdisciplinary consortium among KU faculty that investigates commonalities in qualitative research methods. Housed within the Center for the Study of Injustice at IPSR, the work group brings together faculty members from across KU that teach qualitative methods at the graduate level and that use qualitative methods in their own research.

Goals

Fostering closer collaboration and integration among graduate courses and graduate qualitative methods training, with the goals of reducing duplication of teaching, increasing interdisciplinary thinking, and providing resources for faculty wishing to learn more about qualitative research methods.
Creating an environment for providing advanced level training in qualitative research methods and for building conversations about the intersections of quantitative and qualitative data and analysis.
Hosting a Graduate Student Working Group that covers topics related to fieldwork, data analysis, professional writing and publishing, and the job market for students specializing in qualitative methods. The working group meets three times a semester and is focused on students who working on their dissertations.
